Ossatron® Discharge Orders for Patients
You may experience some pain or discomfort in the OssaTron® treated area after the anesthesia effects have subsided. You may also continue to experience the same type of pain you had prior to treatment for 1 to 2 weeks. Pain is manageable by over-the-counter pain medications (non anti-inflammatory).
For twelve weeks following OssaTron® treatment, do not treat the affected area with heat, ice, or take anti-inflammatories (Motrin, Advil, etc.) as this may negatively impact the results of your treatment.
Do not participate in any stressful activity involving the affected area for 4 weeks. "Stressful activity" may include running or jogging, doing heavy housework or yard work, or participating in sports. Following this 4-week period, you should be able to resume normal activity.
Heel pain patients should avoid completely flat shoes such as sandals, loafers, moccasins, or house slippers. If you have orthotics continue to use them.
Simple stretching exercises should be performed several times daily, and before any exercise or sports activity.
Heel Stretches: calf stretch, plantar stretch, and Achilles tendon stretch. Massage the affected foot prior to rising after rest. Stretching for 30 seconds several times daily is recommended.
Elbow Stretches: prayer and reverse prayer stretch, wrist flexor stretch, wrist extensor stretch, and thumb stretch. Massaging the affected elbow several times daily may also be beneficial. Stretching for 30 seconds several times daily is recommended.
Based on the findings during OssaTron® clinical trials, the maximum healing effect of the procedure cannot be evaluated prior to 12-16 weeks for the elbow and 16 weeks for the heel post treatment. The healing effect is also dependent upon individual patient response, and improvement may continue beyond the 12-16-week evaluation period.
